Peter M asked:

How should you breathe when having an anxiety attack? And how long should you keep breathing in this way?

I have severe anxiety issues, and whenever something spikes my anxiety - even if I don’t understand why it has spiked - I feel sick. It’s frustrating and really unpleasant, because one feeds the other, ie, if I feel anxious and sick, I get anxious about feeling sick - I had an episode a few years back where I literally couldn’t keep anything down for weeks. I was a mess. I’m no wiser as to how to control it, it’s really getting me down. It’s so sensitive, I can be out in a restaurant and if a certain topic of conversation arises, I lose my appetite completely and cannot eat anymore, until about an hour or so later. I don’t create an issue or anything, but it’s awful.
    Any pointers?
I’m on a waiting list for therapy - can’t afford private. Been on the list for almost three years now.

We just moved into a new home and our normally well behaved dog now suffers from seperation anxiety. He is on his third day of the Clomicalm and he seems more anxious than ever when we go to work (or leave the house for any reason). If anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate any feedback.
We are using his crate, he’s trying to bite his way out and he never has before =( I don’t want him to hurt himself.

I probably have to fly from the UK to Canada. I suffer from severe social anxiety, mild agoraphobia and claustrophobia.

I’ve been prescribed diazepam for a couple of short flights.

Will the doctor offer me anything for a long flight?

I am a relatively talented violist, who freaks out at auditions and when I have to play in front of people. I have done the beta blocker thing, and want to overcome the anxiety, not just mask it.

I have to find a doctor that accepts my insurance (Humana HMO) and will help me with my anxiety and insomnia. I tried going to the website and picking a doctor at random, and he was horrible, he didn’t help at all. I don’t have time to go doctor shopping, but my symptoms are getting out of control.
