I’ve been taking anxiety medication for 3 years now and I wanted to know if my anxiety will ever go away. Everytime I try to stop taking it I get very anxious causing me to seem socially akward but on it I’m just fine. I’m just tired of letting a little white pill dictate my life.

    I was diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety two years ago by a psychiatrist. I stopped going to the psychiatrist after realizing my concentration problems were due to anxiety. I no longer have anxiety problems.

    Is anxiety disorder a mental illness? Will these two diagnoses hold me back in life?

    I don’t want to take a pill every day since my anxiety is sporadic. I was prescribed Risperdal, which I can take just when I get anxious, but I know this drug increases one’s blood sugar and I am on the borderline of diabetes. Is there anything better available that I can take?

    I’ve taken medication, and they don’t work for me. So, how else could I overcome this? I really wanna make a change in my life…I’m tired of social anxiety holding me back. I rarely go out, and when I do…I feel extremely uncomfortable. When my friends call, I make up a reason to not talk to them or hang out with them. I want a job but I am nervous to find one.

    I need to get over this and start living life.

    Several times throughout the week, I become anxious with no event that seems to trigger it. But the anxiety isn’t so bad that I am completely in a panic. More like a general nervousness that keeps me unfocused enough that I can’t concentrate on the task at hand.
